EXSIF Worldwide, Inc. Purchases Transamerica’s
Tank Container Business

EXSIF Worldwide, Inc., a member of The Marmon Group of companies, has purchased the intermodal tank container assets of Transamerica Leasing, Inc. a subsidiary of Transamerica Finance Corporation. An agreement to the deal was announced in July.

The addition of the Transamerica fleet makes EXSIF Worldwide Inc. the world’s largest lessor of ISO tank equipment. The combined fleet includes more than 22,000 tank containers and chassis that are leased to international chemical companies and logistics operators specializing in bulk liquid transportation. Types include IMO 1, 2 and 5 as well as various specialized tank designs.

EXSIF Worldwide, Inc., a newly-established company, will occupy the former Transamerica tank container headquarters in Purchase, NY. The company will operate regional offices in Paris, Houston and Singapore, and provide customer support through an existing international network of sales offices, agents and depots.

The acquisition strengthens The Marmon Group’s presence in the international intermodal leasing business. It complements the 1999 purchase of EXSIF S.A.S., a France-based lessor of tank containers, and its U.S. affiliate, EXSIF (US), Inc. Jeremy Bergbaum, Chief Operating Officer of Transamerica’s tank container business, has been named President of EXSIF Worldwide, Inc. "We have had a very smooth transition to new ownership," Mr. Bergbaum said. "Our collective resources mean that we will be able to provide an even higher level of service and commitment to our long-standing and future business partners as we expand and diversify our fleet."

Patrick Dupuis, Managing Director of EXSIF SAS, will head European operations. "By combining the strengths of the two organizations, EXSIF Worldwide Inc. will provide our European customers with unmatched capabilities and service," Mr. Dupuis said.

The Marmon Group, an international association of more than 100 autonomous manufacturing and service companies with operations in 50 countries and collective sales of $7 billion, has extensive experience in bulk liquid transportation equipment leasing. Chicago-based Union Tank Car Company, a member of The Marmon Group, is the world’s largest railroad tank car lessor and manufacturer with a fleet of more than 80,000 cars.
